What did you choose? If you chose something there.
**Update** I think I figured it out. I guess the capped wall will have to do but I'd really like the balusters.
Here is a photo from the Palermo model. |
Here's an image from Google. This is the capped wall . |
I chose the railings/ballisters and will change them out for the iron/metal version with a smoky gray to contrast with the espresso hardwood.
ReplyDeleteI missed that in the Master Selection Sheet, I now see the 1,500 upgrade for the railings/balusters :( Going to check and see if I can make the change but if not, I'll have to deal with it.
ReplyDeleteAm I hearing your correctly? You were under the impression you were getting ballisters, but did not chose the upgrade?
ReplyDeleteSometimes, it is so confusing, you see the model and think, ok, I like the ballisters never thinking that the ballisters are extra??
I would express your confusion and try to get the ballisters as it was not clearly explained to you :)
Please let us know how it goes..
Yep, exactly! As it was explained to me while sitting in the model home I thought that I was getting them. It didn't hit me that my understanding was incorrect until I reviewed the Selection Acknowledgment Report with my PM and wondered what a capped wall meant. I honestly thought it meant, half wall, half ballisters because in the model home the ballisters did not run from the top of the stairs to the bottom of the stairs (as shown in the photo I posted) :(
DeleteWe just had this exact same issue with our Palermo! We were under the impression we were getting the spindles/railings and we are not. We tried to get them to add them in, but it was too late. We ended up with the capped wall. It looks ok, but we really wanted the Spindles. If you want to know the difference, if you go to our blog click on the Palermo tab and I added pictures of the spindles.
ReplyDeleteThis really sucks, Cody. I'm going to try and get it changed on Monday. I don't know though, I may get denied. I'd love to see how it looks with the capped wall if you ever get a chance to take a pic.
DeleteI took some pics of the capped wall Sunday for you! I'll post them on our blog, take a look and see what you think. My mother made a good point about being able to put up a gate if you have small children. Since we have a 7 month old we will more than likely need to gate the stairs off to avoid accidents. With the spindles this would have been a bit more challenging though I'm sure we could have thought of something. Anyhow, since we weren't able to get the spindles, we're just trying to make lemonade out of lemons. Good luck and let us know how you make out!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure whether in the Palermo it would be an issue, but my PM pointed out to me (when I was second-guessing myself) that with the balusters kids will try to climb up on the outside. My son has done this at several friends' houses, so it did make me feel better. I had specifically chosen the capped wall with my two boys in mind, remembering my own escapades as a rowdy child, but the railings sure do look nicer. For me the best scenario would have been capped wall at the top, railings at the bottom (where they jut out into the hallway), but they weren't willing to go for that.
ReplyDeleteHey, just noticed youre in Midlothian. We built in Chesterfield over by Iron Bridge and used to live in Brandermill. Which sub division are you building in?
ReplyDeleteHi! Yep, I'm in Bon Air now & we're building in the Watermark Development on Ironbridge.
DeleteNice! Were in Watermark too! Without naming names is your project mgr N.C.? If so we can give you some tips to REALLY get some perks :)
DeleteCool! Yep, that's my PM. We're lot 13 , 1 house down from the Model.
DeleteWe need to get more Richmonders on the blogs, the PA and OH folks outnumber us by a ton. ;)
