I Sense a Mistake

I went by the lot today and it looks like the crew worked on Saturday.  Walked to the back of the house and saw that the entire back of the basement had been framed in.  I expected to see an opening where the sliding glass doors should be (since I have a walkout basement).
I don't want to be a build stalker, I would like to sit back, visit every few days and expect that everything goes as planned.

**Update:  I may have panicked a bit.  I've learned from other RH bloggers that in mot cases the door comes later (once it's decided exactly where it should go.)  Honestly, I compare the build to many other the other builds and there is no clear science to it.  I've seen builds where it's there out of the gate, and I've found on another blog that is was done later, as is the case here**

  2. TechMama, this is an easy fix! It seems to me sometimes they just work with the general framing and outline later. I saw this done several times with our home for the windows. They had it framed out for one thing and later came back to complete it.

    1. Thanks Nadase! I think I panicked a bit. I came across another RH blog that had the same issue but I learned that it was intentionally left that way because the PM didn't know exactly where he wanted to put the door. I'll admit, I'm new to this... if it wasn't for you all and all the information posted in your blogs this would be very stressful.

  3. Don't worry, they'll get the door in. Something like that won't go to long because it will end up costing them more in the long run. It is typical that builder's proceed contrary to the end result. In my case, they installed a normal front door, where my elevation includes the nice glass door. Of course, it would be silly for them to install a nice glass door this early on since it would likely be broken or stolen. Also, my elevation calls for a tin roof over the porch. But the roofer went through and stapled shingles over everything. I'm not worried about it. There is method to the madness. Also, I get some PMs are more social than others, some busier than others, so there is always room for error, and, in spite of all I am saying, generally a simple email, text, or call will help. Be patient, but if it starts to really look wrong, start to REALLY say something ;)

    Good luck!

    1. That makes perfect sense. I'm going to take a step back and just let those guys do their jobs. I came across another RH blog that went through the same thing and just as you mentioned, they went back and installed the door later. I guess I'm so use to other bloggers mentioning how often they hear from their PM's that I was expecting the same.

  4. Your PM should be in contact with you no less than weekly. If you have a number for a second/backup PM, and you should, I would put a call in to both of them.

    1. I agree, Tammigirl. I have neither a second nor a backup contact.
